Founded in January 2016, waji Inc. is a professional manufacturing group that brings together veteran craftsmen and young designers. The company was started when the representative, Yuki Kanno, who loves "antique doors," and Rui Sekine, who used to work at a glass processing factory, met.

Based on Havito's brand concept of "unexpected manufacturing," Kanno and Sekine established the "glart" series, which is a fusion of real glass and leather - something they had always wanted to create.

The collection includes items that are easy to use on a daily basis and can be considered "portable artistic objects."

The nuanced black color on both the front and back gives it an elegant look.

Several different parts are combined to express the realism of an antique door.

The "glart" series combines stained-glass style tempered glass with genuine leather. Glart is a coined word combining glass and art.

The number of parts and the work process are more than double that of similar products. Even the sewing machine was modified just to make this series. Sewing glass and leather requires advanced skills, and only Waji's limited number of craftsmen can complete it.

The leather used is vegetable tanned and chrome tanned cowhide.

Each piece is carefully finished by a craftsman using wax, which is also used for horse tack. The unevenness caused by the handwork and the natural appearance of leather (blood lines, wrinkles, moles, etc.) are attractive and give the leather a unique firmness. Of course, you can also enjoy the changes that occur over time.

The glass was developed in collaboration with Tomi Glass, a long-established glass manufacturer in Tokyo's downtown area.

It took two years to develop this lightweight and durable tempered glass. The glass used is specially processed at a factory that processes car headlights, etc., to ensure safety and strength.

The binder ring diameter is about 15 mm.
