Shogado is a Kyoto-based Japanese stationery manufacturer that produces Japanese books such as goshuincho (stamp books), pencil cases, origami paper, etc. While inheriting the traditional techniques of Kyo-Yuzen, they offer a wide variety of Japanese stationery that reconstructs traditional patterns with modern color schemes and designs.

All of Shogado's Japanese stationery is made in Japan, using Yuzen washi paper that has been carefully dyed by hand. The washi paper is sourced from Echizen (Fukui Prefecture) and other washi-producing areas in Japan. The Yuzen washi paper is gorgeously dyed by Kyoto artisans, who have been involved with the company since it was founded in 1964, using multiple dyeing stencils to layer colors, giving it a texture, shine, and presence that cannot be expressed with regular printing.

Shogado's Japanese stationery pursues designs that are accepted not only in Japan but also overseas, while still conveying the Japanese aesthetic sense. With a wide range of colors, from calm to vibrant, you're sure to find a design that suits your taste.

A Japanese paper fan made using traditional hand-dyed Kyoto Yuzen paper.
A different tweed pattern is placed on top of the tweed pattern using silver pigment, creating a mysterious pattern that looks different every time you change the angle.

A tweed pattern with a gentle color scheme that resembles overlapping pink and blue organza ribbons.

The combination of monochrome and silver gives a simple yet stylish impression.
It is also recommended for men.

A paper fan made using Kyo-Yuzen paper from Shogado, a long-established Kyoto manufacturer of Japanese stationery.

Kyo-Yuzen paper is made by artisans in Kyoto one sheet at a time using a technique similar to silkscreen printing.
For one design, several blocks are prepared for each color, and the pigment is applied one block at a time for each color with a spatula.
Yuzen paper made by hand in this way has a texture, shine, and a sense of weight that machine printing does not have. In addition, the use of pigments makes it less likely to fade.

The elegant and beautiful impression of Kyo-Yuzen has been given a stylish color scheme and design that is old-fashioned yet blends in with modern times, resulting in a one-of-a-kind Kyo-Yuzen paper.

The elegantly shaped ribs are sized to be suitable for both men and women.

The front and back are double-layered, so the bones are less likely to show through.

The "retaining" part that prevents the bag from opening when closed

It has 15 bamboo ribs, with the middle rib being slightly denser and stronger.

The application of Yuzen washi paper and assembly are also carried out in our Kyoto workshop.

The base of the folding fan is based on the "Kazaugi" fan, a basic shape that has long been popular among Rakugo performers and Kabuki actors since the Edo period.
It is 7.5 inches x 15 cm, a size that is usually used by men, but is also easy for women to use.

Paper fans are better at catching wind than cloth fans, so they feel cooler.

A unique, new yet somehow traditional pattern.
Incorporate the scent of Kyoto not only into your yukata and kimono, but also into your everyday wear.

When you open it up, it will be a topic of conversation, with people asking "Where did you buy that?"

A high-quality design that will enhance your summer outfit

The popular Kyo-Yuzen paper from Shogado produces a variety of designs that are easy to use for people of all ages and genders.
A slightly luxurious fan that has the warmth of hand-dyed fabric that machine printing cannot give.

Why not beat the heat in an eco-friendly and stylish way with a compact fan that doesn't use electricity?

In addition, folding fans are considered to be lucky charms because of their wide-open shape, making them the perfect gift. As they are carefully made in Kyoto, they are also popular as souvenirs for people from overseas.

It is recommended not only for yourself, but also as a gift for birthdays, anniversaries, celebrations, Father's Day, Mother's Day, 60th birthday celebrations, mid-year gifts, etc.
