Using the natural beauty of Niigata as its design foundation, the brand translates the wisdom born from the harsh conditions of snow country into knitwear form.

SAIFUKU is produced by the company of the same name, a knitwear specialist manufacturer in Gosen City, Niigata Prefecture, that has been crafting since 1963. Blessed with abundant, high-quality water, Gosen City has thrived as a silk weaving hub since the mid-Edo period, and developed into a major cluster for the knitwear industry after the war. By elevating their company name into a brand, they continue to refine their knitting techniques and ideas, incorporating the know-how passed down through the region.

"mino," produced by SAIFUKU, is a series of ponchos inspired by the traditional "mino" (straw raincoat) used for protection against rain and cold in snow country since ancient times. From the "throw-on" poncho, which is simply a rectangular piece of knit with a vertical slit, to other various knit items, the collection is designed to fit seamlessly into modern lifestyles. The appeal lies in the ease of simply throwing it over your shoulders and the warm comfort unique to knitwear.
