Garage, a Kyoto-based gauze clothing workshop, started from a passion for crafting, for clothes, and for creating things from scratch with their own hands. Husband and wife Tatsuya and Yoko Nakanishi handle everything from design, pattern making, and sewing to dyeing.

One of the distinctive features of Garage's clothing is the use of double gauze fabric cut on the bias (diagonally). Typically, fabric for clothing is used along the warp and weft threads, but cutting on the bias gives the fabric stretch in both directions.

Their simple designs are filled with ingenuity that fully utilizes the unique properties and texture of double gauze.

This original Garage T-shirt features a fluffy gauze tape detail on the chest.
The natural wrinkles, as if freshly laundered, create a unique Garage look, exuding a relaxed vibe.

Gauze is an excellent fabric with moderate breathability and warmth, suitable for all seasons. It has long been used for baby clothes and is one of the softest fabrics against the skin.

A distinctive feature of Garage's gauze clothing is the use of this single gauze fabric cut on the bias (diagonally).

While bias cutting is not efficient in terms of fabric use, it creates excellent stretch in both vertical and horizontal directions, allowing the garment to gradually conform to the wearer's body over time.
