The fabric used is a "left twill" weave with a twill weave that slopes from left to right (＼).
It is woven in the opposite direction to regular right-hand twill denim (/), which gives it a different look and texture.
Left-hand twill denim is soft to start with and has little pilling, giving it a slightly glossy texture.
The right-hand twill denim has a distinct "vertical fading" pattern, whereas the left-hand twill denim has a tendency to fade more evenly overall.
