The watch brand "ipsilon" is created by Yoko Yamada, a handmade watch maker, with the concept of "Cherishing the feeling of a moment, choosing and creating something that can only be made at that moment with the sensibility of that moment on that day." "ipsilon" is the Italian word for the alphabet "Y" and is also Yoko Yamada's initial letter.

After learning the basics of engraving at a jewelry vocational school, Yamada Yoko became fascinated with handmade watches while working in sales at the Japan Handcraft-Watch Association (JHA) , led by Koji Shinohara, a pioneer of handmade watches, and decided to become a handmade watch maker. During her subsequent study abroad in Florence, Italy, she learned traditional Italian engraving techniques (Western engraving) and bag making, with the intention of "acquiring skills that can be applied to watchmaking" from the start.

After returning to Japan in 2007, she began her career as an artist while working as an assistant to JHA representative Koji Shinohara. In 2010, she launched her career as a handmade watch artist under the brand name "ipsilon". The delicate hand-painted and hand-carved dials, carefully finished leather straps, and shapes created using engraving techniques convey Yamada Yoko's passion for cherishing the fleeting sensations that arise from within herself.

The designs are diverse, ranging from delicate and feminine to nostalgic antique pieces, but each piece is filled with the warmth of being handmade, and the texture of the brass and leather materials changes over time. The watches that Yoko Yamada makes are filled with her desire to "accept change and choose the one that feels best for you at that moment."
