Bird lovers gather! Bird motif accessories special feature

Bird-related anniversaries

January 20th: Shimaenaga Day
The day was established by photographer Go Yanagisawa, who loves the Japanese long-tailed tit, a wild bird that lives in Hokkaido, and runs the social media account "I'm Japanese long-tailed tit."

February 8th Chicken Day
The name comes from the play on words, "ni (2) wa (8) tori" (chicken). Chicken Day was established as a commemorative day by the Japan Poultry Association in June 1978. Related commemorative days include the 28th of each month as "Chicken Day," and "Good (11) Egg (05)" on November 5th as "Good Egg Day."

March 20th World Sparrow Day
It was established by the Nature Forever Society, an Indian non-profit organization.

Second Saturday of May - International Migratory Bird Day (also second Saturday of October)
The day is one day each in spring and autumn, when migratory birds migrate. It was established by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), a subsidiary body of the United Nations General Assembly.

May 10th: Bird Day
The day was established with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of protecting the environment surrounding wild birds at a time when wild birds start to become active.

May 10th to 16th: Bird Week
The Bird Conservation Liaison Council was established in Japan to spread the idea of wild bird conservation.

June 15th Parrot and Parakeet Day
June: "Parrot" June: "Inko" The name was created by the NPO TSUBASA, a pet bird rescue organization, based on the play on words that reads "parrot" as "inko" (parrot).

August 10th Pigeon Day
It was established by Toshimaya Co., Ltd., which manufactures and sells sweets such as "Hato Sable."

August 10th: Bird and Human Coexistence Day
It was established by Fujinaga Co., Ltd., a comprehensive bird pest control consultant active nationwide.

September 6th Crow Day
The name was established by the Crow Friends Association, which publishes the crow magazine CROW'S, and is based on the play on words of the numbers "9" and "6," which sound like "CROW," which means crow in English.

Second Saturday of October - International Migratory Bird Day (also second Saturday of May)
Similar to the aforementioned Migratory Bird Day in May.

October 24th: Java Sparrow Day
The day was established by Miyoko Ito, a writer who is an expert on "buncho." It is based on the fact that it is a play on words that reads "te (10) ni (2) shi (4) awase" (happiness in the hands), that hand-fed buncho chicks are available around this time of year, and that the number "1024" can represent the shape of a buncho.

November 15th Good Parakeet Day
"Good (11) Parrot (15)" was created by Sekisei Co., Ltd., a stationery manufacturer.
