Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten was founded in 1716, the first year of Kyoho, in Nara Prefecture as a wholesale dealer of "Nara Sarashi," a high-quality hemp textile. For over 300 years, successive generations of owners have continued to create products that are close to the lifestyles of each era. Currently, with the vision of "Invigorating Japanese crafts!", they collaborate with artisans across Japan to deliver practical "lifestyle tools" that add color to modern life.

Among these, their flagship products are the "Hana Fukin" and "Kayaori Fukin" dishcloths. Created by focusing on the functionality of kaya (mosquito net) fabric, a special product of Nara, these dishcloths boast excellent absorbency and quick-drying properties. Since multiple layers of fabric are carefully sewn together, they are very durable and long-lasting, becoming softer and more pliable with use. In 2008, their design and practicality were highly praised, earning them the Good Design Award's "Gold Award."

The wide variety of patterns that make daily chores enjoyable and designs tailored to seasonal arrangements are also a major appeal. Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten's dishcloths, packed with traditional Japanese craftsmanship and the wisdom of our predecessors, are a long-loved staple for everyday life, adding rich color to daily kitchens and dining tables.

Kayaori fukin for parents and children to enjoy using together.

Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten's very popular "kayaori fukin," made from five layers of Nara's traditional craft "kayaori" fabric.

"Kayaori" refers to the coarse, thin woven fabric used for mosquito nets. It is woven to contain air, giving it a light, soft texture and excellent absorbency and breathability.

It absorbs water quickly and dries easily. The more you wash it, the softer and fluffier it becomes, naturally blending into your daily chores.

Before you know it, you'll always reach for this one. It's a dishcloth that fits into your daily life.

Convenient standard size 40×30cm

This dishcloth features a summery "spooky" pattern that's slightly thrilling. It's an "obake" (ghost) dishcloth that both adults and children can enjoy using.

The world of the picture book, where ghosts take away children who won't sleep, is brought to life on this kayaori fukin. The colors are not too vibrant, naturally blending into your kitchen or dining table, so it doesn't look out of place even when left out, gently adding color to your life.

You can use different ones for different purposes, such as dish towels or kitchen cloths, and enjoy collecting them in different colors.

It's also recommended as a small gift that won't make the recipient feel obligated, such as for Mother's Day, housewarming, moving greetings, or thank-you gifts.
