Garage, a Kyoto-based gauze clothing workshop, started from a passion for crafting, for clothing, and for creating things from scratch with one's own hands. Tatsuya and Yoko Nakanishi, the husband and wife duo, handle everything from design, pattern making, and sewing to dyeing.

One of the characteristics of Garage's clothing production is the use of double gauze fabric cut on the bias (diagonally). Normally, fabric for clothing is used along the warp and weft, but cutting on the bias creates elasticity in both directions.

Their simple designs incorporate ingenuity that fully utilizes the properties and texture of double gauze.

This sleeveless shirt features Garage's original design, with fluffy gauze tape applied to the chest.
The natural, washed-out wrinkled texture is also characteristic of Garage, creating a relaxed feel.

To avoid wasting these scraps, they are used in the neckline and ruffle designs.

Gauze is an excellent fabric with moderate breathability and heat retention, making it suitable for all seasons. It has long been used for baby clothes and is one of the softest fabrics against the skin.

A distinctive feature of Garage's gauze clothing is that this single gauze fabric is cut on the bias (diagonally).

While bias cutting is not efficient in terms of fabric usage, it creates excellent elasticity in both vertical and horizontal directions, allowing the garment to gradually conform to the wearer's body shape.
