"SAIFUKU" is a brand that centers on the concept of "snow country knit," creating knit items inspired by the nature and lifestyle of Niigata, a region known for its heavy snow. Using the natural beauty of Niigata as the foundation for its designs, the brand gives form to the wisdom born from living in such a harsh, snowy climate through knitwear.

SAIFUKU is produced by the company of the same name, a manufacturer specializing in knitwear in Gosen City, Niigata Prefecture, since 1963. Blessed with abundant, high-quality water, Gosen City has flourished as a silk weaving center since the mid-Edo period and developed into a major hub for the knitwear industry after the war. By using the company name as the brand, they continue to refine their knitting techniques and ideas alongside the know-how passed down through the region.

"mino," produced by Saifuku, is a series featuring ponchos inspired by the traditional "mino" (straw raincoat) used in the snowy winters of the past. "mino" ponchos come in a wide variety of styles, including draped and pull-over types, as well as versions that can be worn around the neck or used reversibly. They are crafted from materials such as wool, cotton, linen, and Japanese paper (washi). By making the most of the characteristics of threads made from diverse materials, and through various combinations, knitting techniques, and patterns, you can feel the infinite charm and possibilities of knitwear.

The slit is approximately 17cm long. Because it is made from stretchy knit, it is easy to slip your arms through even with loose sleeves.


Knitted with fine-gauge yarn, the intricate curves of the pattern are beautifully expressed.

When unfolded, it is a 160cm x 70cm stole, but by simply adding two slits, it transforms into a poncho.
Slipping your arms through the slits helps keep it from slipping off.

Made using a natural material sourced from Australian Merino sheep.

The brand name "mino" is derived from the "mino" (straw raincoat) made from straw.
Since ancient times, that same straw has been used in various forms as a material, such as for shimenawa (sacred straw ropes) and other ropes.

While mino has previously used cable knitting to incorporate rope patterns into many designs, this version features a two-tone jacquard knit to express the rope motif.

Additionally, the simple rectangular shape is designed to avoid generating fabric scraps (cut loss).
