"Arama" means "my soul" in the Ainu language. Kato's works are imbued with a spiritual sensibility cultivated from his birth in Izumo, the "Land of the Gods," and his upbringing in Kyoto Nishiyama, the legendary site of the Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. His diverse style features natural motifs, clever mechanisms, Kyoyuzen patterns, and combinations with different materials like python skin.
