Daisuke Ogawa of poussette is a popular purse artist who works under the concept of "things that softly add color to time and space."
"Poussette" means "baby stroller" in French. Embracing the relaxed pace of Kyoto, the environment where time passes, the changing of the seasons, the workings of people and nature, and the importance of finding surprise, intellectual curiosity, and beauty in these are the things they create.
Ogawa of Pussetto creates "Gamaguchi" (clasps) that are highly convenient as wallets or small item holders, adding his own sensibility to the theme of "Can we fuse the Japanese traditions, wisdom and ingenuity that have been passed down until now with modern life?". He personally selects rare imported fabrics and deadstock fabrics with his own sensibility, and handles everything from pattern making to sewing.
The materials used for the purses are diverse, including cotton, linen, and wool, and come in a wide variety of patterns and colors. The fabrics are also produced in a variety of places, including Japan, America, Spain, and Poland. The outer and inner linings of the purses are different, and Ogawa carefully selects the most beautiful combinations of texture, color, and pattern from the countless combinations available.
