Shogado, based in Kyoto, is a Japanese stationery manufacturer that produces Japanese-style books such as goshuincho (stamp books), pencil cases, and origami. All of Shogado's Japanese stationery is domestically produced and uses Yuzen washi (Japanese paper) carefully dyed by hand. The washi material comes from Japanese washi producing regions, including Echizen (Fukui Prefecture). Yuzen washi, brilliantly dyed by Kyoto artisans who have been involved since the company's founding in 1964, using multiple dyeing plates and layering colors, possesses a texture, brilliance, and presence that cannot be achieved with ordinary printing.
