Shogado, based in Kyoto, is a Japanese stationery manufacturer that produces Japanese-style books such as goshuincho (stamp books), pencil cases, and origami. Inheriting the traditional techniques of Kyo-Yuzen, they offer a wide variety of Japanese stationery with traditional patterns reconstructed in modern color schemes and designs.

All of Shogado's Japanese stationery is domestically produced and uses Yuzen washi (Japanese paper) carefully dyed by hand. The washi material comes from Japanese washi producing regions, including Echizen (Fukui Prefecture). Yuzen washi, brilliantly dyed by Kyoto artisans who have been involved since the company's founding in 1964, using multiple dyeing plates and layering colors, possesses a texture, brilliance, and presence that cannot be achieved with ordinary printing.

Shogado's Japanese stationery pursues designs that reflect a widely inherited Japanese aesthetic and are accepted not only in Japan but also overseas. With a wide range of colors from subdued to vibrant, you are sure to find a design that suits your taste.

A splendid goshuincho made with traditional hand-dyed Kyo-Yuzen paper.
It features a classical yet modern color scheme and design that gently blends into contemporary life.

The back has the same pattern for all designs.

This accordion-fold goshuincho from Shogado, a long-established Kyoto Japanese stationery manufacturer, uses Kyo-Yuzen paper.
It features classic designs that are easy for all ages to use.

Yuzen washi is used on the front, and Tant paper on the back.
The hand-dyed Yuzen creates a rich, textured color.

Kyo-Yuzen paper, meticulously handcrafted by Kyoto artisans, is created using a technique similar to silk screen printing.
For each design, multiple screens are prepared for each color, and pigments are applied one color at a time using a squeegee.
This hand-dyed Yuzen paper has a texture, luster, and depth that cannot be achieved with machine printing. Furthermore, since pigments are used, it is resistant to fading.

The elegant and beautiful impression of Kyo-Yuzen is transformed into a sophisticated color scheme and design that is both classical and modern, resulting in a unique Kyo-Yuzen paper.

A large accordion-style goshuincho that can be used on both sides.

The binding-free design allows it to open flat, making it easy to write in.
The interior pages are made of hosho paper, providing a luxurious feel.

Includes two title stickers. Create your own original notebook with your preferred title.

The large size offers a little extra space.

Also makes a thoughtful gift for loved ones.

Also makes a thoughtful gift for loved ones.

Because it is accordion-style, it can be used on both sides.
This "large size" is a little bigger than the standard size, making it easy to paste pre-written goshuin. It is highly recommended.

The inner paper uses hosho paper, which is essential for creating a "Japanese" atmosphere for things like祝詞 (norito, Shinto prayers) and envelopes. It is a pure white, beautiful Japanese paper. Since two sheets are pasted together in an accordion fold, it is less likely to bleed through.

It's also recommended to collect tickets and postcards from your temple and shrine visits along with your goshuin. Besides being a goshuincho, it can also be used as a collage notebook, memory journal, illustration book, or collection of favorite photos, etc.

Shogado's Kyo-Yuzen paper is popular for its wide range of designs that are easy to use for all ages.
Why not enjoy your temple and shrine visits with a slightly luxurious goshuincho that offers the warmth of hand-dyeing, unlike machine printing?

These meticulously crafted "Made in Kyoto" items are perfect for yourself, and also make delightful souvenirs for overseas visitors. Since they are affordably priced, they are also great as small gifts for acquaintances and friends. They are recommended as presents for birthdays, anniversaries, celebrations, Christmas, Father's Day, Mother's Day, Respect for the Aged Day, entrance ceremonies, retirement celebrations, and 60th birthday celebrations.
