Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten: Hana-fukin (flower cloths) and Kaya-ori-fukin (mosquito net weave cloths)

A comfortable dishcloth that makes your everyday kitchen a little special.
Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten was founded in Nara Prefecture in 1716 as a wholesaler of high-grade hemp fabric called "Nara-sarashi." For over 300 years, successive generations of proprietors have continued to create products that meet the needs of each era. Today, with the vision of "energizing Japanese craft," they collaborate with artisans across Japan to deliver practical "lifestyle tools" that add color to modern living.
Among these, their representative masterpieces are the "Hana-fukin" and "Kaya-ori fukin" dishcloths. Created by focusing on the functionality of kaya (mosquito net) fabric, a specialty of Nara, these dishcloths boast excellent water absorption and quick-drying properties. Because multiple layers of fabric are carefully sewn together, they are very durable and long-lasting, becoming softer and more pliable with each use. In 2008, their design and practicality were highly praised, earning them the Good Design Award's "Gold Award."
The wide variety of patterns that make daily chores enjoyable, and designs tailored to seasonal decorations, are also a major appeal. Filled with Japanese traditional craftsmanship and the wisdom of our ancestors, Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten's dishcloths enrich your daily kitchen and dining table as a long-loved staple for your life.
