Waji Inc., founded in January 2016, is a collective of professional artisans, from seasoned craftsmen to young designers. The company began when Yuki Sugano, its representative and a lover of antique doors, met Rui Sekine, who came from a glass processing background.

Under havito's brand concept of "unexpected craftsmanship," Sugano and Sekine established the "glart" series, a fusion of real glass and leather, which they had long wanted to bring to life.

The collection features everyday items that can be described as "portable art objects."

Multiple parts are combined to create the realistic appearance of an antique door.

"Glart" is a coined word combining "glass" and "art."
As its name suggests, the concept is to incorporate the beauty of glass shining with light and artistic design into everyday life.
From this brand came a genuine leather system planner cover designed to resemble an antique European door. The stained glass window, like those adorning doors, adds color and a story to your daily life.

The number of parts and production steps are more than double compared to similar products. The sewing machine itself was modified specifically for this series. The high level of skill required to sew glass and leather together means that only a limited number of waji's artisans can complete the finish.

The leather used is vegetable-tanned and chrome-tanned cowhide.

Waxes, also used for saddlery, are carefully applied by hand by artisans. The appeal lies in the handmade unevenness and the natural characteristics of the leather (such as blood vessels, wrinkles, and moles), giving it a unique firmness. Of course, this leather also develops a beautiful patina over time.

The glass was co-developed with "Tomi Glass," a long-established glass manufacturer in downtown Tokyo.

It is lightweight and durable reinforced glass, and its development took two years. The glass used undergoes special processing at a factory that processes car headlights, ensuring both safety and strength.

Avoid storing in hot, humid places or direct sunlight. If it gets wet, wipe off moisture with a soft cloth and air dry in the shade. Do not wash completely with water or hot water.
