The "glart" series combines stained-glass style reinforced glass with leather. Glart is a combination of the words "glass" and "art." The number of parts and the work required to make this wallet are twice as long as a regular wallet, and even the sewing machine was modified just to make this product. Sewing glass and leather requires advanced skills, and only a limited number of Waji's craftsmen can complete the process.
The glass was developed in collaboration with Tomi Glass, a long-established glass manufacturer in downtown Tokyo. It is a lightweight and durable tempered glass, and took two years to develop. The glass used is specially processed at a factory that processes car headlights, etc., to ensure its strength. The colors are close to those of vintage stained glass. Several types of core materials are combined to express the reality of antique doors.
