Garage, a gauze clothing workshop in Kyoto, started with a passion for craftsmanship, a love for clothes, and a desire to create things from scratch. Tatsuya and Yoko Nakanishi, a husband and wife team, handle everything from design, pattern making, and sewing to dyeing.

One of the distinctive features of Garage's clothing is the use of bias cut (diagonal cut) double gauze fabric. While it is common for clothing fabric to be used according to its warp and weft, bias cutting allows for elasticity in both directions.

The simple designs incorporate ingenious touches that fully bring out the unique characteristics and texture of double gauze.

"Do as much as we can with our own hands"—this sentiment permeates Garage's gauze clothing, bringing a gentle and calm feeling to those who wear it.

This T-shirt features Garage's original design with fluffy gauze tape on the chest.
The natural wrinkled texture, as if freshly washed, is another distinctive Garage touch that creates a relaxed vibe.

Instead of discarding "scraps" produced during cutting, they are processed and incorporated into the design as much as possible.

At Garage, a significant amount of fabric scraps are generated due to the luxurious use of bias-cut fabric. To avoid waste, these scraps are utilized as designs for necklines and frills.

You can wear them adorably with a simple design that is timeless and can be loved for a long time.

Gauze is an excellent fabric with moderate breathability and heat retention, making it suitable for all seasons. It has long been used for baby clothes and is known as one of the softest fabrics against the skin.

A distinctive feature of Garage's gauze clothing is the use of bias-cut (diagonal cut) single gauze fabric.

Although bias cutting is not efficient in terms of fabric usage, it creates excellent elasticity in both vertical and horizontal directions, allowing the garment to gradually conform to the wearer's body over time.
