Connecting Wakayama's tradition to the future – Broom Craft, tools made from coir that complement daily life. Broom Craft is a brand launched in 2020 by Fukami Sangyo, a company that has long manufactured coir rope in Kainan City, Wakayama Prefecture, to connect a disappearing tradition to the future.

A major feature of the brand is that the "real perspective of users" from women artisans, mainly homemakers, is utilized in product development. A prime example of this is the kitchen brush, which generously uses natural coir.

Born from the artisans' own desire for "easier use" in daily chores, the brush's most distinctive feature is its diagonally cut bristles.

This exquisite angle allows it to fit perfectly against the curves of frying pans and pots, effectively scrubbing off stubborn oil and grime. Furthermore, in terms of manufacturing, the unique patented method of folding and bundling the fibers makes them less likely to shed, ensuring high durability to withstand daily dishwashing. Broom Craft's kitchen brush combines the flexibility and resilience characteristic of coir, a traditional material, with meticulous innovations that cater to modern life, making it a reliable tool that comfortably supports daily kitchen tasks.

A quick sweep whenever you notice it.
A small coir broom you'll want to keep close at hand.

In daily life, there are surprisingly many situations where small debris is a concern, such as on dining tables, desks, or around windows.

From tables with breadcrumbs and desks scattered with eraser shavings to shelves and appliances that accumulate dust before you know it.

Broom Craft's coir hand broom is perfect for those times when "it's not worth getting out the vacuum cleaner, but it's a bit annoying."

An easy-to-use angled tip for sweeping corners and crevices.

The diagonally shaped bristles make it easy to reach into small spaces such as along walls, in stair corners, and window sashes.

Since the tip can easily follow corners, it's also effective for dust and dirt in gaps and corners that are hard to sweep with just a flat surface.

Leveraging its compact size and angled bristles, you can quickly and precisely clean areas of concern.

For window sashes, furniture gaps, floor grooves, and baseboards.

For detailed cleaning of stair corners, tight spaces, and car interiors.

Blends into both Japanese and Western lifestyles. It naturally harmonizes with your interior even when left out.

To make cleaning areas where a vacuum cleaner feels a bit excessive more casual.

This is Broom Craft's original hand broom, designed in a compact size and shaped to reach into small spaces.

It's a versatile tool, easy to use in various parts of your home, such as around dining tables, desks, windows, and stairs.

With its rustic texture inherent to natural materials and its practicality for daily life, this hand broom is also recommended as a thoughtful yet unpretentious gift for various occasions.

A size designed for ease of use, and the texture unique to natural materials.

Approximately 21cm in length. A compact size that's easy to pick up and handle.

Natural coir fibers with both flexibility and resilience.

Coir fibers are securely bundled with copper wire.

Shuro (coir) is a palm tree that grows in warm regions.

The fibrous bark covering its trunk is strong, and has long been used as a material for daily life tools such as ropes, scrub brushes, and brooms.

The coir industry has flourished in Wakayama since ancient times, and "shuro skin" is listed as a product in the "Illustrated Record of Famous Places in Kii Province" published in 1851.

Coir fiber is a natural material that combines flexibility and appropriate resilience. It easily sweeps up fine dust and dirt, and has long been cherished as a broom material.

Another characteristic of natural coir is that it is less prone to static electricity. Swept dust and dirt are less likely to cling to the bristles and are easy to drop into a dustpan or trash can, making it easy to handle even after cleaning.

Utilizing the unique properties of natural materials, it is crafted into a hand broom that is easy to use for everyday light cleaning.

For daily maintenance, just a quick brush-off.

For daily maintenance, simply brush off any dust or dirt from the bristles after use.

If it becomes heavily soiled, you can wash the bristles with a neutral detergent, being careful not to wet the copper wire part.

After washing, gently shape the bristles with a coarse comb and allow them to dry thoroughly in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight.

Precautions before purchase and during use

While we strive to maintain stock, in case of shortages, production and restocking may take about 7 to 10 days. If it takes longer, we will inform you of the new delivery date. Please feel free to contact us with any questions regarding stock status or arrival times.

Since natural coir fibers are used, there may be slight differences in the bristles, shape, and size of each item. Please understand this as a characteristic of natural materials.

Due to the use of natural materials, some fiber dust may appear when first used, but this will gradually subside with continued use.

If the bristles are stored under stress for a long period, their shape may deform. Hanging the broom, for example with the included string, is recommended for storage.

When using on easily scratched furniture or painted surfaces, please try it on an inconspicuous area first and do not rub too hard.
