Shogado is a Kyoto-based Japanese stationery manufacturer that produces Japanese books such as goshuincho (stamp books), pencil cases, origami paper, etc. While inheriting the traditional techniques of Kyo-Yuzen, they offer a wide variety of Japanese stationery that reconstructs traditional patterns with modern color schemes and designs.

All of Shogado's Japanese stationery is made in Japan, using Yuzen washi paper that has been carefully dyed by hand. The washi paper is sourced from Echizen (Fukui Prefecture) and other washi-producing areas in Japan. Yuzen washi paper is gorgeously dyed using multiple dyeing stencils and layered with colors by Kyoto artisans who have been involved with the company since it was founded in 1964, giving it a texture, shine, and presence that cannot be expressed with ordinary printing.

Shogado's Japanese stationery is designed to convey the Japanese aesthetic and be accepted not only in Japan but also overseas. With a wide range of colors from calm to vibrant, you're sure to find a design that suits your taste.

A cute and heartwarming envelope with a motif of Kyoto's specialty, Kyoto pickles.
The illustrations are sure to bring a smile to your face, adding a touch of Kyoto warmth to the gift you give.

Senmaizuke: Thinly sliced Shogoin turnips pickled in vinegar and kelp . The transparent turnip is accented with kelp and hawthorn.

Takuan: A fragrant and chewy pickle made from dried radish pickled in rice bran and salt . The rows of half-moon slices of takuan have a pop cuteness that will bring a smile to your face.

Hakusai: A mild-tasting pickle made by lightly pickling Chinese cabbage in salt and kelp . The overlapping shapes of the cabbage are expressed in a round shape. The tiny chili peppers on top add an accent.

Suguki: A sour pickle made by lactic acid fermentation of sugukina leaves using only salt. Whole pickled suguki have a simple, somewhat nostalgic appearance.

Shibazuke: A colorful pickle made by pickling eggplant and cucumber in red shiso. The bright color of the shibazuke cucumber dyed with red shiso immediately catches your eye.

Rice thief: A delicious side dish that makes you want to eat more and more rice . Classic lightly pickled eggplant and cucumber are accented with the vibrant color of myoga ginger.

The material used is Echizen hosho paper from Fukui Prefecture.

A slightly unique and cute pocket envelope made by Shogado, a Kyoto-based Japanese stationery manufacturer.
The motif is, of all things, Kyoto pickles.
The design was created by TANICHO, a member of "etote," a picture book design class in Kyoto.

The designs are characterized by pop, hand-drawn illustrations that incorporate the colors and shapes of Kyoto pickles.
Although it has a Japanese motif, it is not too somber and has a certain Nordic lightness to it, making it a great item to use in a stylish way.

The material used is Echizen Hosho paper, a traditional Japanese paper with a history of 1,500 years.
It has a solid thickness and beautiful texture, and you can feel the high quality attention to detail even in its cuteness.

When giving a small amount of money, as a New Year's gift, or as a tip...
Every time you use it, you will feel the charm and gentleness of Kyoto.
