Garage, a Kyoto-based gauze clothing workshop, started from the desire to create things, a love for clothes, and the satisfaction of making something from scratch with one's own hands. Tatsuya and Yoko Nakanishi, a husband-and-wife team, handle everything from design and pattern making to sewing and dyeing.

One of the characteristics of Garage's clothing is the use of double gauze fabric cut on the bias (diagonally). Typically, fabric for clothing is used along the warp and weft, but cutting on the bias gives the fabric elasticity in both directions.

The simple designs are filled with ingenious ideas that fully utilize the characteristics and texture of double gauze.

Garage's gauze clothing, born from their passion for manufacturing—"We do as much as we can with our own hands"—makes those who wear it feel gentle and calm.

While cutting on the bias is not very fabric-efficient, it creates excellent elasticity in both directions, allowing the garment to gradually conform to your body shape as you wear it.
