ANNAK is an original leather brand launched by the long-established factory Mitake Sangyo in Motoasakusa, Tokyo, an area packed with small factories producing leather goods and metal processing.

Mitake Sangyo was founded in 1925 and initially produced tobacco pipes, but after the war, in response to changing lifestyles, they shifted to producing leather belts and other items. Since 2004, they have been running the leather brand "ANNAK," which focuses on handwork such as hand sewing, hand dyeing, and hand polishing.

[What is mud-dyed leather?]

The technique "mud dyeing" is used in "Oshima Tsumugi", a craft of Amami Oshima, which is counted among the three major textiles in the world. As the name suggests, it is a dyeing technique using mud, and it is said to have a long history, as it is described in the books of Shosoin.

It took 10 years to create this product, a new challenge: dyeing leather in order to preserve the mud dyeing technique.

The mud-dyed leather has a unique look with deep black and brown hues that cannot be expressed with chemical dyes, and one-of-a-kind color patterns that can only be achieved with tie-dyed patterns. In addition, the leather's luster increases with use, and you can enjoy the changes that occur over time.

Note the design that allows you to insert bills without folding them. It can easily hold one or ten sheets.
