DEDEGUMO is a brand that has been making handmade watches based in Kyoto since 1992. In a workshop built in a traditional townhouse in Gion Shirakawa, where you can feel the historical atmosphere of Kyoto, they continue to challenge themselves to make watches with designs that are as free and innovative as clouds, without being bound by preconceived notions of watches.

One of the characteristics of DEDEGUMO watches is their emphasis on design. In addition to watches with a traditional Kyoto design, they also cooperate with outside creators through watch design contests to create unique designs not found in other brands.

Another feature of DEDEGUMO watches is the pursuit of reliable quality. The movements of the watches are made in Japan. While many handmade watches are not waterproof, these watches are waterproof (with some exceptions) and have an anti-corrosion coating. In addition, craftsmen with watch repair qualifications check the quality with a strict eye, and the watches are made to last for a long time.

In recent years, we have been introducing digital technology and are continuing to challenge ourselves to create delicate designs that were previously impossible to achieve by hand. Since 2020, we have been designing watch parts using CAD (Computer-aided design), and creating prototypes for casting using 3D printers. The final finishing is done by hand by craftsmen one by one.

DEDEGUMO watches are created based on a pursuit of unique design, reliable quality, and a fusion of handcrafted craftsmanship and new technology, and are accessories that will motivate you throughout the day when you wear them.

The "Kinetic Art Watch" by DEDEGUMO features two disc-shaped geometric patterned hands combined with simple hands on the dial, creating a visual effect (moiré) over time, with new patterns appearing every time you look at it.

This highly artistic structure was realized in collaboration with Rafael Parra-Toro, a world-renowned kinetic artist from Venezuela, South America. While it has a digital appearance, the structure is completely analog. This is why the charm of mechanical watches and the beauty of visual art coexist.

Each watch is handmade by skilled craftsmen in a workshop in Kyoto. This watch, which is made with great attention to detail not only in its design but also in its manufacturing process, is a special watch that not only has its own individuality as a fashion item, but also conveys the craftsmanship and philosophy of the artist behind it. [Biography] Rafael Parra-Toro (aka PARRATORO)
A kinetic artist born in Venezuela, South America in 1977. With a background in engineering, he is known for his kinetic art that makes full use of the moiré effect and works that incorporate augmented reality (AR).
His work has been exhibited around the world and he has received international acclaim for his innovative art that combines vision, mathematics and technology.

DEDEGUMO utilizes digital software to create dial and case designs. We also produce design parts for watches, create prototypes with 3D printers, and cast parts.

The belt is made from vegan leather made from apple peels that would otherwise have been discarded.

It has a sophisticated surface finish with a grained pattern that makes scratches less noticeable, and it has the same texture and feel as regular leather, giving it a very elegant appearance.

The watch uses a Japanese-made movement and is waterproof and coated with an anti-corrosion coating, ensuring long-lasting use.
