ipsilon (Epsilon) Watchmaker, Yoko Yamada Handmade watch

ipsilon

"Ipsilon" is a wristwatch brand created by handcrafted wristwatch artist Yoko Yamada, based on the concept of "cherishing the sense of the moment, choosing and giving form to something that can only be made at that moment, based on the sensibility of that moment." “Ipsilon” means the name of the alphabet “Y” in Italian, and is also the initials of Yoko Yamada herself.

After studying the basics of metal engraving at a jewelry vocational school, Yoko Yamada became involved in handmade watches through a sales job at the Japan Handcraft-Watch Association (JHA) , which is led by Koji Shinohara, a pioneer of handmade watches. I was fascinated and decided to become a handmade watchmaker. After that, while studying abroad in Florence, Italy, he learned traditional Italian metal engraving techniques (Western engraving) and bag making from the beginning with the intention of "learning techniques that can be applied to watchmaking".

After returning to Japan in 2007, he started working as an artist while working as an assistant to Koji Shinohara, the representative of JHA. In 2010, under the brand name “ipsilon”, he started full-scale activities as a handmade watchmaker. The delicately hand-painted and hand-engraved dial, the carefully finished leather belt, and the molding that applies metal engraving technology convey the thoughts of Yoko Yamada, who values the momentary sensation that comes from herself.

There are a wide variety of designs, such as dainty and delicate feminine items, and nostalgic antique items. To go. Yoko Yamada's wristwatches are filled with the desire to "accept change and choose the one that best suits the moment."
