"RE.ACT LEATHER WORKS" is a brand created by designer Mitsutoshi Nakayama. The brand does not have a specific theme, but instead offers a wide range of products with free and natural designs that can be enjoyed with different moods and situations, focusing on leather items such as leather wallets, leather accessories, and bags.

After working in planning and sales at an apparel brand, Mitsutoshi Nakayama went independent and launched "RE.ACT LEATHER WORKS." The brand name "RE.ACT" means "to react to stimuli," and was chosen because he wanted to reflect the stimuli he has received from travel, vintage items such as used clothing, and culture in his creations.

The "Re-ACT" series uses carefully selected materials from Japan and overseas, such as Chromexcel leather from a long-established American company, artistic shoulder leather with a waxed silver surface from Italy, and domestic pigskin suede. In addition, at our domestic factory founded in 1974, we make use of the manufacturing methods, know-how, and craftsmanship spirit that we have accumulated since our founding to produce leather items that can be used for a long time.

Cordovan manufactured by ROCADO in the Ponte a Egola region of Tuscany, Italy.

Cordovan is made by slowly tanning the buttocks of horse leather with vegetable tannins over a long period of time, and then carving out the cordovan layer inside the leather to create a single-layer leather with no grain surface.It is characterized by its extremely dense fiber density, and is called "shell cordovan" or "shell" overseas.

The classic type does not use any pigments, and is carefully and evenly dyed using only dyes. The surface, polished by artisans, has a luxurious and refined luster, giving it a charm that can only be found in cordovan.

*There are tiny, unevenly-spaced pinholes on the surface, but this is an unavoidable characteristic of the sweat glands that horses have in their buttocks, and please understand that this is proof that the shell cordovan has been finished with a dye.

The inner leather is "Buttero". Made using the traditional vegetable tanning method, Buttero has a thin finish that makes it difficult to hide scratches and wrinkles, but it retains the natural, rustic look and transparent beauty of leather.
*Since Buttero contains plenty of oil, post-production maintenance simply requires wiping it dry.


The snap buttons are made by Fiocchi from Italy.
It is durable and easy to open and close, and is used in high-end brand bags and wallets in Europe.

Cordovan is known as the "diamond of leather."
The name comes from the fact that the process of scraping off the cordovan layer of horse leather is reminiscent of "gemstone unearthing," while the glazing process that gives it a shine is reminiscent of "gemstone polishing."

In addition, compared to cowhide or pighide, there is less horsehide in circulation, and cordovan is only produced in very small quantities because it is harvested from farm horses bred in limited areas of Europe.
Furthermore, it can only be harvested from parts of the horse's buttocks where the cordovan layer is present.

The manufacturing process is long, and craftsmen are required to have advanced knowledge and experience in handling cordovan.
For the reasons mentioned above, cordovan is said to be a very rare leather.

If you continue to use it while it is wet, it may cause discoloration, color transfer, or mold. Remove the contents and dry it thoroughly in a well-ventilated place. Once it dries, the oils in the leather will also be removed, so after drying, apply a thin layer of colorless oil such as leather oil.
